Doug Zumbach first opened the doors of Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee in 1992 in New Canaan, CT. Back then, most were still getting used to the idea that coffee could be gourmet, let alone fresh-roasted. A former HR exec with the dream of running his own business, Doug saw an opportunity in the market. He left his suit behind and learned the craft of coffee roasting in order to launch Zumbach’s. He’s spent the last 30+ years mastering his technique.
Since then, Zumbach’s or ‘Z’s’ has developed a loyal fanbase, locally, nationwide and even overseas. If you have the opportunity to visit them at 77 Pine Street, you’ll start to understand why.
It begins with the hum of the roaster followed by the smell of fresh coffee, set against a colorful display of college pennants, vintage car posters and an electric red ‘Caffeine is Good’ sign. This is the familiar backdrop for the Zumbach’s community – where new connections are made and old ones are renewed. But, what really keeps Z fans coming back? Their coffee. Sourced from leading global suppliers and expertly hand-roasted everyday, onsite.
Great coffee starts with strong roots. At Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee, they’re building on a 30+ year legacy of quality. They invite you to taste the difference.
